Macabacus alternative
A Macabacus alternative you can buy yourself
Macabacus is a broad suite built for firm-wide rollouts. If your bank has not licensed it and you just want the formatting, auditing and Excel-to-PowerPoint tools you use every day, Plzfix covers that core for less than half the price, and you can install it without asking IT.

Choose Macabacus if your firm needs Excel-to-Word linking, enterprise deployment and the full breadth of a suite. Choose Plzfix if you are paying for yourself, or your team wants the everyday formatting toolkit without an annual enterprise contract.
Why analysts look for a Macabacus alternative
- Their firm has not bought licences, and an individual annual plan is a lot to expense.
- They only use a handful of tools: colour coding, number formats, alignment, Excel to PowerPoint.
- They want to try something properly before paying, not for 14 days during a quiet week.
What you get with Plzfix
- Excel: AutoColor, banker number formats (multiples, margins, growth, pp, brackets), IFERROR and ROUND wraps, CAGR, scale by powers of 10, flip sign.
- Excel audit: dependents and precedents analyser, workbook-wide formula error list, conditional checks (TRUE/FALSE, =0).
- PowerPoint: smart align relative to a reference shape, copy size and margins, swap shapes, status boxes, colour palette, font rules.
- Excel to PowerPoint: send a range or chart to the active slide as a vector image, then update it from its Excel source.
- Before sending: Slide check, Word Smart Check, and one-click removal of metadata, comments, notes and hidden shapes.
Questions
Is Plzfix a full replacement for Macabacus?
Not feature for feature. Plzfix focuses on the formatting, auditing and Excel-to-PowerPoint tools analysts use daily. It does not offer Excel-to-Word linking or enterprise deployment tooling.
Can I run Plzfix and Macabacus side by side?
Plzfix adds its own ribbon tab and does not modify other add-ins. If you test both, compare them on the same files.
How much does Plzfix cost?
There is a free tier with a daily click allowance and every tool unlocked. Pro is €10 per month, €50 for 6 months or €90 per year, per user, with unlimited use.
Do I need admin rights or an IT ticket to install Plzfix?
No. The installer writes to your Windows user profile only, so it runs without administrator rights.
